Ry’s LOTRO Review

If you’re one of the millions who have read the books or seen the movies, The Lord of the Rings has a deep, intricate story that follows the trials of many different characters in the fight against the Dark Lord Sauron. If you haven’t done either, then what the hell are you doing here?! Go now and complete this task!

Okay, so where does your character fit into the story? As a hobbit, elf, dwarf or human, you are one of the many people of the free races of Middle-Earth. Your character’s path doesn’t follow in the footsteps of the books’ characters. Instead it takes you down a different path that was probably only shown in Tolkien’s notes and appendices...

Jono’s LOTRO Review

The Lord of the Rings Online is an MMORPG which has been running for around 4 years now. For those of you who don’t know what an “MMORPG” game is, it’s pretty essential you understand what it is before reading this review – so I’ll take a little time out to explain the concept. MMORPG means Massively Multi-player Online, Role Playing Game; this is a game which is set in an online universe which sets is central crux around being an RPG. Possibly the most widely known MMORPG (which you may have heard about) is World of.. Nope I can’t say it.

So, now you get an idea on what I’ll be talking about for the next.. 3hours of your life? No seriously, I’ll try not to make it that long… I promise.

For those of you who haven’t heard of The Lord of the Rings by J.R...

Cullen’s LOTRO Review

There is going to be a long and a short explanation to this. It helps to have some understanding of Tolkien’s “Middle Earth” mythology, namely the “Lord of the Rings” tales as indicated by the title of the game, but the game developers were granted possibly the most expansive rights of any Tolkien franchised media yet and allowed to venture into aspects of the lore barely mentioned in the book (a single line can become a playable area, which gives the game developers much scope for invention). All in all this means that to get the most from this game, at least in terms of story, it helps to go off and read more of Tolkien’s work (the encyclopedia’ish Silmarillion, is a tough read at first, but really does expand the world and characters you’ll be involved with in this game)...

Tal’s Killing Floor Review

Killing Floor Story:

Killing Floor won’t be picking up any awards for an intriguing, character building storyline any time soon. The game does have a back story but you’re never told it via cut scenes or fancy intros. In fact the only way to discover the story is by playing the game itself and reading inscriptions on the walls, floors and ceilings of the various levels. Each character also has it’s own biography with hints at the game backstory inside them.

The basic idea is, an ‘evil’ corporation known as Horzine has been creating nasty biological weapons. Problem is, they escaped and are now running wild all over the UK...

Sannas’ Killing Floor Review

Killing Floor Story

Its time to talk zombies, or blast the undead so they can never get up again to savage some poor human into death only to be re-born to join the ranks of the human-munchers. There isn’t so much of a story to talk of for Killing Floor, so I will quickly cover its origins. The game itself spawned as an Unreal Tournament mod back in 2004, in 2009 Tripwire released the full version game after Alex Quick finally accepted Tripwires proposal to produce the game as a standalone.

The story itself is subtle and doesn’t require much in the means of a description although you feel like you’re killing zombies you’re actually killing specimens from a botched underground experiment by a company called Horzine Biotech...

Ry’s Killing Floor Review

Killing Floor Story

The game takes place in London, England. Horzine Biotech is contracted to conduct miltary experiments involving cloning and genetic manipulation. Something goes wrong during the experimentations, and the subjects begin to exhibit grotesque mutations and disfigurements. They become hostile, and overrun the internal security forces of the corporation.

Desperate to contain the outbreak, the British government begin to organize ragtag teams of surviving British Army soldiers and police officers to fight back against the hordes of mutated “specimens” now running amok throughout the London and its outskirts. You will take the role of an anonymous member of one of these teams as they take part in a variety of missions in and around the capital.

Each separate map also has...

Jono’s Killing Floor Review

Killing Floor Story

The genius of Killing Floor’s story element is that it does not have a story. Before you sit back and look at your screen confused- let me explain what I mean. When launching the game, you get no story information, you can simply get straight into the zombie blitzing. Throughout playing the game you may pick up tidbits of information on what may be happening around you whilst you fend of horrible looking monsters.

However, that is realistically the extent of any story information you will gain from Killing Floor. This lends itself to those people who just want to get in and kill monsters...

Tal’s Company of Heroes Review

Company of Heroes Introduction:

When I got told I would be doing my first review for DHG on Company of Heroes I was ecstatic. I get to write a review on one of the greatest RTS game’s available on PC. So I dove right in, fired up my copy on Steam and start blasting the Germans back to Berlin. I soon remembered why I had such fond memories of this game and hopefully after reading this review you’ll give it a shot and see that this game is truly a classic, must own title.

Company of Heroes Story:

Set during the latter years of World War 2′s Western Front, as the Normandy invasion begins, Company of Heroes take’s the player through the landings of Able Company  on the beaches of Omaha and on to the liberation of German held towns...

Sannas’ Company of Heroes Review

Company of Heroes Story

When we decided to do a Company of Heroes review I was quite pleased to cover this game. I purchased the original version from a store when it was released and thoroughly enjoyed playing the game through to its completion on the solo campaign. I then moved house and lost the game in the move so for some time I no longer had the chance to play the game. At Christmas in 2009 Steam had a sale on Company of Hero’s that incorporated all of the expansions as well, this was an opportunity that I felt I couldn’t pass up and started playing the game again this time however on the multiplayer side of things. Since my purchase I have managed to clock up 154 hours of game play and I still play the odd multiplayer game now.

So you’ve had my history with this game and afte...

Ry’s Company of Heroes Review

Story -

I don’t think I need to go into the back-story of CoH (Company of Heroes) too much as It’s based solely around World War II. If you don’t know about WWII then your head must have been under a rock your entire life. If that is the case then you may struggle to play the game with a squashed head  😀 .

In Company of Heroes, you will be playing as the commander of the US Able Company, and you will lead your troops to full victory starting at the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. You’ll have full battlefield control and a selection of infantry, tanks and special abilities. After you finish with your “world saving” duties, you’ll be able to fight with your friends and other people online.

I can’t possibly score the story badly with it staying pretty close to the realism of th...
